Alcoholism and overeaters.

Obesity and alcoholism have a lot in common.

The overeater can't stop eating,

even when not hungry, and the alcoholic can't stop drinking. And thirst has nothing to do with it.

Their satiety centers are altered and don't function correctly.

One of the causes may well be the derivation of pleasure from this behavior learned at a young age (Sugar soda instead of water) along with a probable genetic predisposition.

There is a northern Russian and Anglo-Saxon habit of drinking till you pass out that just does not exist elsewhere.
