When Eating is reflex.
The practice of eating for
pleasure or to relieve stress is similar to using a cigarette or alcohol.
It's compounded when it is associated with other daily practices, like at
the end of the workday or when watching television. It becomes habit to
eat even if you are not hungry.
Anxieties and emotions can
also trigger the desire to eat. Some people eat because they are sad or
stressed out or even to celebrate when they are happy.
These emotional
compulsions are often developed at an early age.
It is important not to use
food as an emotional crutch for children.
Certain drugs can also
trigger weight gain, particularly if taken over a long period of time.
Benzodiazepines, the former generation of antidepressants,
antihistamines, cordarone and cortisone are some of the most common drugs
that may induce weight gain.
